Short and sweet, yes, but a great exercise in drawing! Simple and playful, natural and artful all at once. The music made this piece complete. Good job.
I am an Iron Chef JUNKIE and I loved this! The "Japanese" speech you came up with was pretty funny... you like cream of sum yung gai? ;-) The art was simple but well done--good likenesses of Kaga and Sakai. Keep coming with the parodies!
Your animation is very two dimensional--maybe you should practice your drawing more? Also, maybe it is because I'm lucky enough to be seeing this movie on a Pentium 4 system, but your soundtrack didn't seem to sync very well with the action after the middle. It was ok, but maybe there could have been more drawings instead of images from the movie. By the way, your soundtrack was by Leonard Nimoy (you know, Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame?). Watch the movie called "Butt-Plug" by Zeebarf in the "Funny" area of the "Movies" section. It has the same soundtrack.
Maybe the 'fuck you's weren't necessary, but I happen to agree with you on the whole genocide thing. I don't think that going to war was the answer. The innocent civilians in Afghanistan had NOTHING to do with the attack on the WTC and the Pentagon. Why should they suffer? Didn't the Taliban make them suffer enough? It took balls to post this--I give you a lot of credit, man.
I took out the 'Fuck you's, the supporters of this film shouldn't have to get those. I figure the satire is harsh enough without those. I suppose it did take some balls to post this, but I live for the controversy. Thanks for your review
This was SUCH a cute short! I believe that the ideas you created paired with the soundtrack fit together very well--there is so much playfulness and good humor as well as a brilliant use of color. (Hey, so sue me and call me a "sissy", I happen to be quite partial to rainbows as well as Scarlet and Hyacinth Macaw parrots!) The parrots were very funny little buddies. And contrary to other reviewers, I believe this piece DOES belong on Newgrounds. Just because this one is funny and cute and not about gloom, doom and blood doesn't mean it shouldn't be here. A very creative and well designed piece!
If this movie is about you, I'm sorry that you are suffering so much at the hands of other's cruelty. It's so hard to deal with people that seem to go out of their way to make a person's life miserable. You have my empathy, absolutely. I think that this movie is a wonderful expression of the pain and anger that is inside, and creating something from that fire is more constructive than turning it within yourself or toward other people. I also want to tell you to keep making movies, express yourself. That's what the art of film making is all about. Please be well.
Good soundtrack (I remember that song, too!) And I have to say that the art is very good. Nice use of different layers of color for a more 3D effect. Funny little story line too, with Grumpy Bear picking up chicks.
I agree with the last reviewer, perhaps you should develop this into something more. This is a great study in form and movement. You have some good drawing skills under your belt--keep practicing!
Guys, this so awesome. I've never seen anything like this on Newgrounds before! Your technical prowess is very impressive, and you had all the sound effects and timing right...wow. The visual effects are stunning. Great soundtrack, too. You had something simple to work with, in terms of the live action, but you really made it work for you. You really let the Flash aspect take center stage by letting everything else (setting, costuming) be very simple.
I hope Newgrounds sees more of these!
